Fall 2018 Richard E. Merwin Scholarship Winners Selected

Ninety students applied for the Richard E. Merwin Student Scholarship during the fall 2018 cycle. The winners receive a $1000 scholarship and become ambassadors in their region. To apply, IEEE Computer Society student members provided substantial information on their IEEE involvement, awards they have received, non-IEEE activities, and their vision for their time as ambassador. IEEE Computer Society Brings Tencent and Waseda University Together for Special Event

In December 2018, Tencent research teams from China visited Waseda University in Japan for a one-day seminar organized by the IEEE Computer Society (IEEE CS). IEEE CS connected these two groups as part of an ongoing effort to promote collaboration between industry and academia.

The meeting took place at the Waseda University Green Computing Systems Research and Development Center, which is led by IEEE Computer Society president, Hironori Kasahara, a professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and director of the campus’s Advanced Multicore Research Institute.
